Nomination Criteria

Egibility
In addition to the specific criteria pertaining to each award category outlined above, the following general eligibility criteria also apply.
- Members from any of the diverse Chinese communities in NSW are eligible for nomination under any of the above categories.
- Nominees must be permanent residents or citizens of Australia.
- Must be ordinarily resident in NSW.
- Individuals may be nominated. In certain cases, the CRC reserves the right to make a group award in any of the categories.
- All nominees must have undertaken the community service in a voluntary, unpaid capacity.
- Any CRC Commissioner, employee or member of the judging panel is ineligible to nominate.
- With the exception of the Lifetime Achievement Award, the specified community service for which entrants are nominated must have taken place within the five years up to and including the closing date for nominations.
Judging Process and Criteria
Judging will be undertaken by a panel. The judges assessment of each nomination will be bound by the judging criteria. The judging panel will assess each nomination according to the criteria and select a winning candidate in each category. The judging panel may establish Advisory Panels. The decision of the judging panel is final and all nominators and nominees acknowledge and accept this fact.
The judging panel reserves the right to present two Awards in one category or to not present an Award if nominees in a particular category are not considered to be of a high enough standard. In addition to the individual category criteria outlined above, the judging panel may give consideration to one or more of the following:
- Continuing and significant commitment to community service as reflected in participation in programs and initiatives which are responsive to community and social needs.
- The extent to which their service may be considered noteworthy.
- The length and degree of their service.
- The degree to which their service has made lasting or meaningful contributions to the community.
- The extent to which the service might be considered above and beyond the call of duty.
- The extent to which the nominees community service is recognised by their peers, the Chinese or wider Australian community.
