What is the Awards? 

The Dorothea Mackellar Memorial Society Community Relations Commission for a Multicultural NSW Poetry Award is awarded for a poem which makes a contribution to multiculturalism by meeting all of the following criteria:

1. celebrating the cultural and linguistic diversity of Australia;
2. canvassing issues arising from the Australian immigration and migrant settlement experience; and
3. treating issues in one or more cross-cultural settings.

The Award is valued at $350 and the winner also receives a trophy.

The award, which has been sponsored by the Community Relations Commission since 2001, is one of a number of awards presented annually in various categories. The awards are open to all students enrolled in Australian education facilities.
