Assessment of Entries
Judging
Judging will be undertaken by a panel chaired by the Chairperson of the Community Relations Commission For a multicultural NSW and three distinguished members of NSW community appointed by the Commission. The judges’ assessment of each nomination will be bound by the judging criteria. The judging panel will assess each nomination according to the criteria and select finalists and a winning candidate in each category. The judging panel reserves the right to present two Awards in one category or not to present an Award if nominees in a particular category are not considered to be of a high enough standard. While these are awards to individuals, the panel reserves the right to present an award to a group in certain circumstances. The decision of the judging panel is final and all nominatiors and nominees acknowledge and accespt this fact.
Assessment Criteria
In addition to the individual category criteria, the judging panel may give consideration to one or more of the following:
- Demonstrated ongoing leadership in volunteerism and the extent to which their community service may be considered noteworthy.
- Outstanding promotion of volunteerism in ethno-specific, and the wider New South Wales communities.
- Continuing and significant commitment to community service as reflected in participation in programs and initiatives which are responsive to community and social needs.
- Timeframe, length and degree of community service.
- The extent to which the service might be considered above and beyond the call of duty.
- Lasting and meaningful contribution to volunteerism in New South Wales and to the well-being of their communities.
- The extent to which the nominees community service is recognised by their peers, their own and/or the wider Australian community.
