2011 Youth Leaders Day Registration Form

The Community Relations Youth Leaders Day will be held on Wednesday 21 September 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 30 Phillip Street, Parramatta from 9:00am till 3:30pm.

Registered delegates will be provided with refreshments and lunch. Please submit your registration by Friday 2 September 2011Applications will be accepted until places are filled.

Workshops

The five concurrent workshop strands are listed below. Delegates will only be able to attend one workshop strand. Please number them 1 to 5 in order of preference. Organisers will endeavour to place delegates in one of the top preferences.

Social Media:
This workshop will focus on the power of social media and its capacity to facilitate change, breakdown barriers and build trust between people. It will also address issues about personal safety and the message you want to communicate to others.

Pathways to Leadership:
This workshop will focus on leadership pathways and the many routes available to reach career goals. Personal, community and educational pathways often cross and influence each other and can influence individuals taking on leadership roles and creating the next generation of leaders.

Advocacy:
This workshop will showcase strategies for approaching situations, understanding rights and responsibilities and providing an individual and collective voice for young people.

Identity and Creative Cultural Expression:
This workshop will highlight the ways in which identifying with a particular culture or group helps young people feel a sense of belonging and contributes to overall well-being and ways that young people have the ability and capacity to function in more than one culture. With a focus on the access to new technologies and the way it provides innovative ways to participate in creative activities as well as enabling individuals to express their identity and culture.

Community Engagement & Capacity Building:
This workshop will discuss opportunities which connect young people with their communities through creating ideas and projects that enhance their skills and knowledge and experience demonstrating how young people can act as facilitators of change within their communities and the wider community.
