MediaLink Reporters

The Community Relations Commission is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who are interested in becoming a MediaLink reporter for the Italian language.

MediaLink reporters review non-English newspapers and submit online.

A MediaLink reporter must have:

  • Excellent English writing skills
  • Excellent language skills in Italian
  • Background or demonstrated interest in journalism
  • Demonstrated interest in current affairs
  • Experience with computers and use of the internet
  • Access to the internet.

Applicants for vacant positions are invited to contact the nominated contact officer to obtain an information package relating to the position. The name and telephone number of the contact officer is published as part of the advertisement. After receiving the information package, you may wish to ask questions relating to the position. The nominated contact officer will be only too happy to answer any questions you may have as well as provide background information relating to the CRC. The CRC employs staff covered by four awards:

  • Crown Employees (Administrative and Clerical Officers) Salaries Award
  • Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Award
  • Crown Employees (Public Sector - Salaries 2009) Award
  • Crown Employees (Interpreters and Translators, Community Relations Commission) Award

Process

All vacant positions in the CRC are advertised on the NSW Government website, as well as various Ethnic newspapers, as applicable. You need to obtain an information package and submit your application addressing all the selection criteria as stated in the advertisement by the nominated closing date. The CRC values the time you take in developing your application and will acknowledge receipt of all applications for employment.

A minimum of two people will form the selection panel. The panel will review all applications for a position and identify those meeting all the essential criteria to be called for interview. Should you be called for an interview, you have the right to know who will be sitting on the panel.

The selection panel will recommend the most meritorious applicant for appointment to the position. All applicants will be advised as to whether they have been successful or not.
