Multicultural Advantage 2012-2015 – A Plan to Advance Multiculturalism in NSW
It makes sense in economic terms to work in collaboration with one another, to highlight their cultural, social and business relationships in the journey together to making NSW the number one state in Australia.
The plan will deliver innovative policy and services to multicultural communities in NSW in collaboration with local government and with the engagement of the communities themselves. Some of the initiatives include a comprehensive Grants program aimed at building capacity for new and existing community groups.
There will be an Annual Premier's Awards and Medals Program and Honour Roll, with the CRC taking an active part in administering awards to exceptional individuals and cultural groups who meet the criteria for attainment. Read more about the Annual Premier's Multicultural Awards and Medals program.
A series of important annual cultural activities will take the form of Multicultural arts and culture competitions delivered to students in NSW schools, TAFE and community colleges, and the concept of forming Multicultural Hubs across NSW will be investigated.
The government is also conducting research into our multicultural tourism with aims to develop strategies to further attract international tourism to large scale events and conferences held in NSW. Read more about Multicultural Hubs.
Special events such as the concept of Multicultural March are planned to commence in 2013 and to occur annually where there will be a month long celebration of our cultural, artistic, musical talents and interfaith and ethnic diversity.
The Voices in Harmony Concert is another event scheduled to commence in 2013, which will uplift and transform visitors where they will experience world music performances, dance and artistic cultural activities in an outdoor setting. This cross-cultural experience will host choral singers and connect people from other cultures and embed a sense of belonging. To enter one of our Competitions click here.
