Services

The CRC offers a number of services designed to better link the 'community of communities' in NSW.

Community Development Grants

The Community Development Grants Program offer financial support to not-for-profit community organisations. The aim of the program is to encourage the participation of people from culturally diverse communities in all aspects of life in New South Wales. Projects are funded on a competitive basis.

Community Language Allowance Scheme

The New South Wales Government's Community Language Allowance Scheme ( CLAS ) is a fundamental tool in the provision of high quality customer service in a culturally diverse society. CLAS is an allowance paid to selected NSW public sector employees who have a basic level of competency in a language other than English and who work in locations where their language can be used to assist clients.

EmailLink

EmailLink is a fast and effective email distribution service providing direct delivery of information and messages to specific target audiences. Email Link facilitates direct connection with specific culturally diverse community groups, leaders and individuals in NSW.

Interpreting and Translation

The CRC is the NSW Governments main language service provider. The CRC provides interpreting and translation services in over 85 languages and dialects. Services are available to all Government departments and agencies, private and commercial organisations, community groups and individuals.

More details of our Language Services, including Schedule of Fees and how to book an interpreter, are available via the menu options on the left under Interpreting & Translation.

MediaLink

There are some 140 languages spoken throughout Australia and over 100 non-English language newspapers which cover the full range of culturally and linguistically diverse communities nationwide. The MediaLink service provides timely, cost-effective and technologically advanced reports, in English, of items that appear in the newspapers, including editorial comments and opinions, business features, political cartoons, community events, and so on.

Video conferencing

The CRC has a video conferencing facility located at 175 Castlereagh Street , Sydney , to facilitate video interpreting to remote areas and enhance the CRC s capability to consult with individuals, groups and organisations in regional and rural NSW.
