Interpreting and Translation
The Language Services Division of The Community Relations Commission For a multicultural NSW provides comprehensive interpreting and translation services in over 85 languages and dialects including Auslan throughout the State. Services are available to all Government departments and agencies, private and commercial organisations, community groups and individuals.
Professional interpreters and translators of the Commission play a vital role in assisting the Commission to achieve its mission. The commitment of the NSW Government by the provision of linguistic services through the Commission ensures the full, fair and equal participation of all people in programs, services and processes, and enables the Public Service to achieve community participation by breaking down barriers.
Interpreting
Face to face interpreting services are provided 24 hours a day 7 days a week. These services may be obtained from anywhere in the State by telephoning 1300 651 500 at the cost of a local call.
On site interpreting is provided in areas such as: personal and domestic situations, workshops and seminars, police investigations, law, health, education, housing, insurance matters, international conferences, business negotiations, licence testing as well as individual or client-group interviews.
Translation
A variety of translation services is offered for personal documents, e.g. driver’s licences, qualifications, multilingual pamphlets and books, as well as technical and other more complex material.

The Language Services Division works in partnership with tertiary institutions, professional associations and key government agencies to provide opportunities for the professional development of interpreters and translators and to improve availability of language services in the Sydney metropolitan, regional and rural areas.
